Jeremy Shuman

Director of Global Programs

As the Director of Global Programs, Jeremy oversees the establishment and growth of eye banks in developing countries. His tasks include in-country site evaluations, eye bank management and training consulting, and eye bank program development.

Jeremy has served as a Consultant and Volunteer Faculty with ORBIS International and as a team member evaluating SightLife’s international eye bank projects. Furthermore, he has served as a volunteer for safe water projects and clinic refurbishment in Vietnam with MEDRIX and as a science teacher with the United States Peace Corps. Jeremy has lived, studied, and/or worked in many countries in different capacities and traveled to many more. His most significant experiences were in China, Australia, Vietnam, India, Japan, and Samoa.

As a team member with SightLife since 2000, Jeremy has served in all operational areas, with his most recent role having been as Technical Director. Within the Eye Bank Association of America, Jeremy serves on the Technician Education Committee, has been a speaker on Distribution topics at EBAA Annual Meetings, and has participated in the Cornea Collaborative.

Jeremy has a degree in Biology and earned his Masters of Public Health degree from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

He is involved in his local community as a volunteer with the Seattle-King County Public Health Reserve Corps and nationally as a member of the American Public Health Association. His interests include skiing, camping, home improvement, hiking, and travel.
